With the 2025-26 season set to kick-off on Oct. 31st, Gauchos women's basketball is looking forward to returning some experience while ushering in a new wave of young talent.

The Gauchos will lean heavily on Sophomores Dalaiha Madden and Gloria Hines - both of whom made big impacts as Freshmen last year. Lae started all but 3 games last season while Glo saw action in all 26 competitions.

Both have spent countless hours on their craft in preparation for big sophomore seasons. Having previous experience in a premier conference like the ACCAC should prove valuable to the Gauchos success and culture both on & off the court.

Lavinia Halafuka will be another sophomore looking to make an impact after a medical redshirt year. She's stepped right into a leadership role for the Gauchos while also adding a keen scoring touch at the guard position.

You'll want to get familiar with a few new Gauchos as well.

Morgan Van Dyke, LeLaura Yazzie, Alice Kinsey, Jacqueline Rosado and Cynthia Tewsbury are all new additions to the Gauchos WBB family who are expected to contribute right away in various roles.

These new Gauchos come with numerous earned accolades from 1,500 point scorer to 2x State Champion - they're all humble and ready to learn while still being hungry to compete.

GCC WBB HC Ernest Shand had this to say, "Every one of our young women have purpose within our program. They are really fun to be around and easy to coach. While their learning curves/adaptability will vary - they are work hard and have bought into the culture we're building here."

The Gauchos' 3rd season under Coach Shand begins on Halloween (10/31/25) at the JUCO/JV Challenge - hosted by Phoenix College. Their home opener is on 11/6/25 as the Gauchos welcome the Benedictine Mesa Redhawks Developmental Team @ 5pm.
