Gauchos Perform Well At Central Arizona College Invitational

COOLIDGE, Ariz. - Glendale Community College men's track and field ran away with accolades at the Central Arizona College Indoor invitational event January 31st.

Freshman Tyreeq Jones came away with two outstanding performances in the men's 60 meter and 200 meter events. In the 60 meter dash, Jones squeaked out a first place finish with a time of 6.66 seconds, narrowly edging out teammate Cole Carpenter who finished second with a time of 6.68. Victor Jarrett came in third with a time of 6.72, and Jacoby Lamar came in sixth with a final time of 6.99.

Jones and Carpenter also finished top 2 in the men's 200 meter event. Jones' 20.56 seconds now ranks as the best time in the NJCAA for the event. Jhaylin Palmer finished 5th in the event with a time of 21.31 seconds. Jacoby Lamar finished in 7th, with a time of 21.54.

Glendale Community College track and field are set to host the inaugural GCC Indoor meet this weekend, February 6th and 7th. The Gauchos will end the month at the NAU Tune Up meet on February 20th before the NJCAA Indoor Nationals in March.
