September 26th - Mens Soccer against Yavapai College Roughriders Coming off a commanding victory against Gateway CC, the Gauchos had momentum going to Prescott to take on the Roughriders of Yavapai CC. Unfortunately, that momentum would not last long. The Roughriders of Yavapai CC came to play, as they jumped out to a very quick 2-0 lead within the first 30 minutes of the game, after 2 successful counterattacking opportunities led to goals. The Gauchos would have to work extremely hard in order to come back against a defensively sound Roughriders team. The game would go from bad to worse, as the Roughriders would score in the 67th minute. However, there was hope that was instilled in the Gauchos, as the Roughriders would receive a red card, followed by a Gauchos goal shortly after by reliable goal scorer Josue Hernandez. Of course, the goal was assisted by Nelson Gomez Rodriguez, who seemed to get a point or more per game. Unfortunately, Nelson Gomez Rodriguez would receive his 2nd yellow card for a poor challenge in the 83rs minute of the game, that led to the Gauchos first red card of the season. The final score of the game would end 3-1 in favor of the Roughriders. The Gauchos would travel back home, for a game against South Mountain CC Cougars on Saturday, September 30th.
