Gauchos Use Late Run To Push Past Bears

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Community College men's basketball used a 19-11 run over the final seven minutes to snag their 5th conference victory Wednesday night, defeating Phoenix College 85-84. The Gauchos now sit at 14-4 overall, 5-2 in conference play and are tied with South Mountain Community College for second place in the ACCAC.

Redshirt sophomore Ty Gibbs (Shadow Ridge) and freshman Stephan Miller (Liberty) led the way for the Gauchos, each finishing with 18 points. Gibbs was 7-of-9 from the field, had 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Miller had 16 of his 18 points in the second half and also pulled down 6 rebounds. Malaki Garnica (Brophy) had 12 points on 5-of-11 from the field. Garnica had 3 rebounds and 3 steals in the contest. The Gauchos shot 41.8% from beyond the arc and had 17 assists on 33 made field goals. Glendale outrebounded the Bears, 45-36 and forced 17 turnovers during the game.

Glendale Community College men's basketball returns to action on Saturday, January 17th, when they travel to South Mountain Community College. The Cougars defeated the Gauchos back on December 3rd, 78-64, and currently sit at 15-3 overall. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 P.M.
