Glendale Community College men's basketball picked up their 9th conference victory Wednesday night against Scottsdale Community College, 76-75. The win moves the Gauchos to 17-10 on the season, 9-8 in conference play. The Gauchos have clinched 3rd place for the region tournament which begins next week.
Jordan Kuac (Ironwood) led the Gauchos in scoring with 22 points on 9-of-15 from the field, and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Lamont Johnson (Central) finished with 14 points, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes of play. Davis Hester (Liberty) and Kenny White (St. Mary's) each finished with 10 points and had 4 of the Gauchos' 7 made 3-point field goals for the contest. Ty Gibbs (Shadow Ridge) had the moment of the night when his layup gave the Gauchos the lead with 3 seconds left in regulation. Gibbs finished with 7 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds. The Gauchos shot 45.9% from the field, 35% from beyond the arc, 81.3% from the free throw line, and had 14 assists on 28 made field goals.
Glendale Community College men's basketball will finish the regular season on Saturday, March 1st when they host Phoenix College. Saturday will be sophomore day for both the men's and women's programs. The men's ceremony will start following the completion of the women's game. Tip-off for Saturday's contest is scheduled for 2 PM.
