Coach Rebecca Schweitzer is beginning her 18th season and has made 13 postseason appearances in the toughest NJCAA conference in the country. Coach Schweitzer is a proud GCC alum who played under former coach, Laura Dodrill, in 1999/2000, being part of a postseason team in both seasons. She transferred to play for Georgia College & State University in the Peach Belt Conference. She was part of the first team at GCSU to make the regional tournament and she also earned All-Tournament honors. She was the graduate assistant when the Bobcats made an appearance at the National Tournament where they made it to the championship game, still the only time in school history. She received her B.S. in Psychology and her M.A. in Secondary Education before coming back to GCC to coach her first season in '05 aside the same coaching staff she played for. While being the head coach for the softball team, she also works on student success for the athletic department and instills in her program the need to prioritize student before athlete. You can see the reflection of this with her team GPA being above 3.0 every semester. She values very deeply the winning tradition that has been built on and off the field and organizes an annual alumni game to kick off the season every January. At the game the current players get the opportunity to meet and interact with those players who came before them to understand we are all an important part of the Gaucho Family.   She is a mother of two daughters who cheer for only two teams, the Glendale Gauchos and the Chicago Cubs.
