On September 19th & 20th, the Glendale Community College Men’s
Golf team competed in the South Mountain Classic. After the first day with a team
score of 293 (5 over) the Gauchos were five shots back from 1st place.
On the 2nd day of competition the team knew it would take a full team effort to
pull off a comeback scenario and they did just that!
Jaden McCloud (Freshman) and Eli Cruzan (Sophomore) both scored a 68 (-4). Kyle Roberts
(Sophomore) scored a 70 (-2) and Sean Lam (Freshman) scored a 71 (-1) to
round out the top four scores, with a team total -11 on the second to beat South
Mountain (Ranked #1 in the Nation) by one shot.

Archives (Gaucho Shootout 2022)
The Gaucho Shootout at GCU Golf Course was the first event of the Fall 2022
Schedule. On the first day of competition the new Gaucho Warner Beach
(Sophomore) decided to shoot a smooth 65 (-6). This helped that Gauchos take
a five shot lead with South Mountain CC trailing in second at +4.
On the second day it took a team effort to maintain the lead. Jaden McCloud
(Freshman) led the way with a 67 (-4), Matt Creighton (Sophomore) & Eli
Cruzan (Sophomore) both scored a 69 (-2), and to round out the top 4 scores
Warner Beach (Sophomore) scored a 71 (E). The second day -8 Team Total was
enough to maintain the lead and win the tournament by 8 strokes.
